The presentation will improve the knowledge of the audience in several ways and attendees will leave with a greater understanding of septic systems, water quality concerns and how they can help protect water quality in their real estate transactions. First the audience will complete an On-Site Wastewater Treatment System Training with a technical service provider from the Midwest Assistance Program (MAP). Then attendees will gain familiarity with local water quality concerns and then go through an exercise looking at a septic permit and learn more about online resources and septic permit data availability by county. Finally, Lincoln County Commissioner, and Western Montana Conservation Commission Commissioner, Noel Durham will share some serious problems Lincoln County homebuyers and sellers are experiencing due to unpermitted septic systems. and other examples of how they can help promote the protection of water quality to homebuyers.
